You’re Still In Kansas, Toto!

Here I was, in a burger stand again, being pleasantly amused by the casual frankness the owners have with their customers. A sort of gracious sarcasm mixed with zealous hospitality. Of course, no two things are the same, and the levels these dishes were served varied, but there I was, unmistakably, at the Top Hat again.

Blistered footIt’s kinda gross, but there it is… if any of you care to take a look. I don’t know what my left foot did to deserve this, because it was more or less in the same place my right foot was most of the same time – but Left certainly got the worse for the wear.

Forgive me if I’m getting a little deep here – but how much do we know about our personal history and how often it tends to repeat itself? I couldn’t stop thinking philosophically tonight, while I sat at the counter at Hazel’s Drive In and devoured the last double cheese burger I’ll have for a while, about the Grand Scheme of things and how it all really works.

Wall Stuff-4To believe our destinies are predetermined is a pretty hard nut to swallow. But is our fate already cast in concrete? Are our future stories already told? If you experience what I do from time to time you might start to wonder.

I’ve experienced connections like this before – and, in all fairness, they usually happen in similar settings. But is it a question for the esoteric, or do our surroundings mold our actions, our personalities, more than we know?
